Eco-town project: IETC to organize a training programme on the development of eco-towns in the Asia-Pacific region from 26 September to 2 October 2006 in Kawasaki, Japan

As an integral part of its eco-town project, IETC, in partnership with the City of Kawasaki and its supporting foundation - GEC, is organizing a 10-day training programme on “Development of Eco-Towns in the Asia Pacific Region” from 26 September to 2 October 2006.

The objectives of the training programme are to understand the lessons learnt in setting-up and operation of eco towns in Japan (specifically the Kawasaki Eco-town), and to develop working strategies and guidelines for the development of eco towns in the Asia-Pacific region.

It will focus on lessons learnt from Japanese eco-towns that will help develop step-by-step guidelines for local / national governments in the Asia-Pacific region to set up eco-towns in their countries.

It will also have interactive sessions to provide the necessary 'workable strategies' and demonstration projects.
