Key Definitions
Activity Sector
A group of organizations and people who are engaged in the same general
activity;
Includes groups and organizations which have broadly similar interests and
needs, and broadly similar relationships with city development and urban
development
Environmental Resource
Primarily arising from the physical world which are used to support
urban life and development such as air, water, land and areas of special ecology
like wildlife and special environments with cultural and historical
significance.
Environmental Hazard
Event/disaster primarily arising from the physical environment which
endangers the lives, health and livelihoods of urban populations, whether
natural (floods, landslides, storms) or man-made (industrial accidents).

Environmental Resource
- Describe the environmental resource in terms of quality, quantity and
different ways in which it is used
- Discuss the use of the resource by all activity sectors
- Discuss the impact of the activity sectors on the resource
