C. Suggested Introductory Activity: The Numbers Game (30 minutes)
- The purpose of this activity is to provide a snapshot of the world urban and
environmental situation as backdrop to the discussion of the significance of
Environmental Profiling as a decision analysis tool.
- Divide the participants into 2 or 3 groups with a maximum of 10 members
each. Each group must be given a set of prepared number cards and scotch tape,
and should be assigned to stand in front of one of several giant worksheets
posted around the room.
- Give the groups 10 minutes to stick their number cards next to the statement
which they feel it describes.
| Example : |
percent of land area worldwide covered by forest and woodland |
| Answer : |
27 (group must post the card with number '27' written on it next
to the statement) |
Mention to the groups that they are to make their best guess, emphasizing
they are not expected to get all the answers correct and to enjoy the mental
challenge.
- Share the answers, marking correct guesses with a red check mark on the
giant worksheets. Award a small token or prize to the group with the most
correct answers.
