NEW PUBLICATIONS:

IETC's First Technical Publication Now Available

In our Centre's endeavor to design and implement demand-driven and result- oriented training programmes, last year we initiated a study of the training needs of government officials and other decision-makers in the field of environmental technology assessment. A report, published as the first volume of an IETC Technical Publication Series, is now available that contains the results of this study's questionnaire. 1500 questionnaires were sent out in late January 1995, and 510 completed replies were received by 13 April of the same year. Responses were solicited from individuals and institutions representing target countries for prospective training interventions, and also from those in industrialized countries knowledgeable in the training needs of developing and transition countries. An expert group meeting at IETC critically discussed the draft of this publication (see also INSIGHT, Fall 1995), and more information was added after a peer review of the document. The publication is available upon request, free of charge, from IETC's Osaka Office.
