NEW PUBLICATIONS:

International Source Book on Environmentally Sound Technologies for Municipal Solid Waste Management

This source book assists managers and other decision-makers in developing and transition-economy countries to identify information sources relating to environmentally sound management of municipal solid waste (MSW). It also informs about selected technologies in the field of waste reduction and recycling, collection and transfer, composting, incineration, landfills, and other aspects of MSW.

The main objective of the book is to prepare a thorough inventory of available information sources. Moreover, the book also includes an analysis of sound practices of innovative and cost-effective technologies as well as strategic planning of the integrated MSW system. Being reviewed by more than 20 experts around the world, considerable inputs have been incorporated in preparing this publication. Special efforts have been made to present the source book in an attractive and user-friendly format. IETC will distribute limited numbers of this publication on a complimentary basis to the recipients in developing countries and countries in transition, and as sales publication to others.

Waste Treatment Technology in Japan/Air Pollution Control Technology in Japan

The Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC), one of the two Japanese foundations supporting UNEP IETC, introduces in two separate volumes technologies for waste treatment and air pollution control. The publications are based on an evaluation of expertise and technology accumulated by environment-related companies of Japan. This evaluation was carried out by a Committee for Studying Transfer of Environmental Technology established in GEC.
