K. Imai, Secretary General of ILEC

Mr. Kiyoshi Imai was appointed as Secretary General of the International Lake Environment Committee (ILEC) in April 1996. Prior to taking up this position, Mr. Imai was extensively involved in enactment of a number of Shiga Prefectural Environmental Ordinances including the Eutrophication Prevention Ordinance and the Reed Beds Conservation Ordinance.

During these periods, he played a leading role in the development of the Prefecture's environmental administration. At the international level, while director of Environment Division, he attended the UNEP's Governing Council and participated in the preparations for the establishment of the UNEP IETC.

His predecessor, Mr. Kenji Yamano is the Managing Director of the Biwako Gakuen Hospital. (He had concurrently held the position of Managing Director and Secretary General of ILEC.)
