INSIGHT, Summer '96 Edition
Young Painters Invited to Express Their Views on Environment
The sixth international contest of children's paintings on the
environment has been launched by the United Nations Environment Programme
(UNEP) and the Foundation for Global Peace and Environment of Japan. The
contest runs from July until end of December 1996. It is open to all
children between the ages of 6 and 15 years and is expected to attract
entries from all regions of the world.
With the theme of "Preserve the Beautiful Oceans, Skies and Forests
for the Twenty-First Century", the contest aims to enhance the
awareness of the environment among children by providing them with an
opportunity to express, through paintings, their views on these
environmental issues, and also to promote their creativity in caring for
the future.
The best 154 entries will be selected for prizes and will be used for a
children's picture booklet on the environment, to be published by UNEP and
the Foundation. In addition, entries will be used for posters and for
exhibitions worldwide. For information on entering the contest, please
