Side Events of the Convention on Biological Diversity - the 10th Meeting of the Conference of Parties (CBD COP10) in Nagoya, Japan, on 21-29 October 2010

Background

Within the framework of the UNEP-UNESCO Joint Project "Natural and Cultural Management of the Iraqi Marshlands as a World Heritage", UNEP organized side events of the Convention of Biological Diversity – Tenth Meeting of the Conference of Parties (CBD COP10) in Nagoya, Japan in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Environment. The events consisted of two luncheon sessions on 21 and 22 October 2010 as well as the exhibition on “Nature in Iraq” from 23 to 29 October 2010.

Luncheon Sessions

The following two luncheon sessions were undertaken on 21 and 22 October respectively, with special attention to the Iraqi Marshlands and biological diversity in Iraq.

1. "Long-Term Sustainable Development of the Iraqi Marshlands and Natural Reserves"
   21 October 2010, Nagoya Congress Center (COP10 venue)

2. "Current Status on Biological Diversity in Iraq"
   22 October 2010, Gymnasium of Nagoya Gakuin University (Off-site location)
