News from the Global Partnership on Waste Management
The Global Partnership on Waste Management (GPWM) was launched in November 2010 to enhance international cooperation among stakeholders, identify and fill information gaps, share information and strengthen awareness, political will, and capacity to promote resource conservation and resource efficiency.
At the last consultation workshop in Paris (June 2011), participants further commented on the framework document and the TORs for the GPWM. The comments have now been integrated and the two documents have been merged to one combined framework document, which will soon be available for review.
In addition to this, the Secretariat is also currently scaling up the already existing Information Platform on Waste Management, a one-stop-shop for all information related to waste management.
The Secretariat is also currently working on two assessment reports. The first one will give an overview of the current activities on waste management carried out by international organizations; the second will analyze the needs for capacity building on waste management.
In order to complete the needs assessment report, we would like to ask Governments to fill in the survey and send it back to Carolin.Sanz-Noriega@unep.org by November 14, 2011. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.
